Carnicer | Adele di Lusignano. Sinfonia

The composition of Adele di Lusignano materializes a definitive turning point in the production of a Carnicer who decides to undertake a radical aesthetic change, while, as suggested by Víctor Pagán and Alfonso de Vicente, erase his liberal image. To this end, Carnicer will take Rossini as the ideal model to follow, burning all the production prior to 1818.

After some frustrated attempts, Adele di Lusignano is Carnicer's first complete opera based on this new aesthetic to see the light of day on the stage. The premiere took place on May 15, 1819 at the Teatro de la Santa Cruz in Barcelona, of which, at that time, Carnicer was musical director, in the presence of the princess of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, Luisa Carlota. Fortunately for Carnicer, the opera was a notable success, with about twenty performances.
