Carnicer | Symphony in D major (ca. 1838)

The fact that no autograph manuscript of this work is preserved and that the only known source only refers to it as "Sinfonía de Don Ramón Carnicer" makes it a complex undertaking to assign a specific title to this symphony. We consider that it could be his Gran sinfonía a tres orquestas (1838), which until now was believed to be lost, and composed expressly for the ballrooms of the Orient, since Carnicer, in addition to being a theater director, would have been an impresario of the masquerades in Madrid since 1836.

Orchestra: piccolo, 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 4 French horns, 2 trumpets, 3 trombones, percussion, violins, violas, cellos and double basses.
