Brunetti | Violin sonatas Vol. 10 DIGITAL

Cayetano (or Gaetano) Brunetti is one of the most important composers of the second half of the 18th century in Spain. His work comprises chamber music (sonatas for violin, duos, trios, quartets, quintets, sextets) and symphonic music. He worked for the most important Spanish nobility (the dukes of Osuna and the dukes of Alba). Brunetti composed mainly for the Prince of Asturias, the future Charles IV, being his violin master, chamber musician and, finally, director of the orchestra of the Real Cámara.

With the present volume we conclude the edition of the sonatas for violin and bass by Cayetano Brunetti. We publish, in particular, four sonatas written for Charles IV, dated 1791, two sonatas that have the peculiarity of resorting to the scordatura method and dating from the eighties of the eighteenth century and, finally, a sonata preserved in the Arxiu Comarcal de Segarra in Cervera (Lleida), a sonata preserved in the Arxiu Comarcal de la Segarra in Cervera (Lérida) that can be attributed, with due reservations, to Cayetano Brunetti or to Felipe Sabatini (1715-1770), his predecessor as violin master of the Prince of Asturias.
