Pierre (or Pedro) Bucquet was born in France around 1680. His brother, Luis Bucquet, played the oboe in the Guardias Reales of Philipp V from 1716, and then he joined the Royal Chapel in 1729. Pierre Bucquet may also played the oboe in the Guardias Reales with his brother. Pierre married Louise Voyenne, sister of Claudio Voyenne, an oboist of the Royal Chapel.
The Pièces à deux flûtes traversières sans basse were published in Sevilla in 1734, when the court of Philipp V remained in this city for five years (1729-1733). These duos are dedicated to Frédéric-Rodolphe, count of Rottembourg, a French ambassador in Spain.
