We publish in this collection the villancicos and cantatas al Santísimo by Francisco Corselli (1705-1778), chapelmaster of the Royal Chapel of Madrid. Each volume includes cantatas for a solo voice -soprano, alto, tenor and bass-, sometimes preceded by an estribillo for 8 voices. In addition, another volume is dedicated to the villancicos to the Holy Sacrament composed for a chorus.
The present volume includes four bass cantatas. In one of them, the famous bass Antonio Montagnana is mentioned. It is probable that the rest of the cantatas would also be destined to be interpreted by him.
