Little is known about Bernhard Ycart's life. There is evidence that he was born in the Kingdom of Aragon, and chapelmaster at the court of Ferdinand I of Naples, in the 70s and 80s of the 15th-century. Only a few of his works have survived, in manuscripts found in Faenza, Perugia and Montecassino, as well as in one of the collections published in Venice by the pioneer of music printing, Ottaviano Petrucci. His music represents the unusual fusion of hispanic elements with franco-flemish traits, which is characteristic of early Renaissance Spanish music, and in parallel with other arts of the time, with a particularly Mediterranean flavor, in this case Neapolitan. La Academia de los Nocturnos rediscovers this unknown repertoire, putting it together with oral and improvisational practices, from the idea that composition is inseparable from the practical side of a church singer
